The Pleasant Home Eagles scored three runs in the sixth inning to secure a 5-3 win over Red Level at PHS on Monday night.

Trailing 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Pleasant Home’s Justin Holt, Colter Poole and Hunter Weaver all scored on two hits, two walks and three stolen bases.

Pleasant Home coach Bradley Stephens said the game came down to his team swinging the bat when needed.

“The bats were a little slow to begin with, but they persevered and came through and finished strong,” Stephens said. “I was worried about this game for some reason because we didn’t play this weekend.

“We came off of a big win against Straughn (March 16) and played them tough the first game here,” he said. “I knew (Red Level) had played this weekend, and I knew they were going to be fresh.”

Red Level charged ahead in the first inning when Nathan Johns scored on a passed ball.

The Tigers would add two runs in the third inning on three singles, two stolen bases and one error.

To end the game, Pleasant Home made a clutch double play from right field to the short stop at second base to win the game.

Pleasant Home’s Holt was 0-for-3 with two runs; Poole was 1-for-3 with one single and two runs; Weaver was 0-for-3 with one run; Hunter Greathouse was 2-for-3 with two singles; and Sid Newby was 2-for-3 with one single and one double.

Red Level’s Jordan Walker was 0-for-4 with one run; Johns was 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs; Troy Nolen was 2-for-4 with two singles; Matthew Nolen was 2-for-3 with two singles; and Cody Marler was 1-for-3 with one single.

Pleasant Home improved to 10-5 on the season and will play in the Florala baseball tournament this weekend.

Red Level will travel to play area opponent Flomaton on Friday for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
