Families of all ages can turn out for a 134th birthday celebration in honor of Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” on March 26 at 3 p.m.

The Andalusia Public Library will join other libraries in Alabama to kick off its Big Read.

Library director Karin Taylor said the festivities will be complete with a birthday cake and candy that was famous when Twain wrote the book.

“We’ll be giving away T-shirts and book bags in a drawing.”

The library will also give away 150 copies of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”
