Curry, Horton selected to Super 12 team

Andalusia’s O’Brien Curry and Alexis Horton were selected to the Dothan Eagle 2010 Super 12 boys and girls basketball teams, respectively.

Curry, a 6-foot-3-inch senior forward, averaged 13.8 points (428 in 31 games) and 8.6 rebounds (267) and had 49 blocked shots (1.6 per game) for Andalusia, which finished 25-6 and reached the regional finals before losing to state runner-up Brewbaker Tech.

Horton, a sophomore guard, averaged 17.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 6.0 steals. The Lady Bulldogs finished 23-6 and advanced to the regional tournament.

In addition, Andalusia’s Shi’Amber Townsend and Straughn’s Kayla Teel were selected as honorable mentions on the girls team.

Townsend, a sophomore forward, averaged 13.9 points per game and 13.0 rebounds.

Teel, a senior, averaged 9.8 points (244 in 25 games), 2.24 rebounds (56), 4.8 steals (119) and 3.4 assists (86).

Teel shot 38 percent from the floor (91-of-242), 46 percent on 2-pointers (66-143), 25 percent on 3-pointers (25-of-99) and 46 percent on free throws (37-of-81). Straughn finished 20-5.
