TUSCALOOSA (AP) — The head of the governor’s antigambling task force says authorities will raid the electronic gaming operation at Greenetrack in west Alabama. The only question is when.

John Tyson made his comments Thursday during a meeting with editors of The Tuscaloosa News.

Gov. Bob Riley’s task force has already raided three electronic bingo operations, but they’ve yet to shut down the gaming hall in Greene County near Eutaw.

Tyson says it’s only a matter of time before authorities shut down Greenetrack. He wouldn’t say when that will happen, but he said a raid will occur by the end of this year.

Greene County’s district attorney and sheriff have defended its operation as legal. The sheriff and other officials have threatened to stand in the door if the task force attempts a raid without a search warrant.
