Lady Bulldogs split area wins

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs split area road wins with Clarke County and Thomasville Thursday night.

In the first game, Andalusia beat Clarke County 7-2, but fell to Thomasville 3-0.

Andalusia hopped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning on four hits.

Paige Caraway got hit with a pitch and reached first, and Abbie Young singled to put runners on first and second.

Andalusia’s Sam Greene then hit a 2 RBI double to score Caraway and Young.

Kristen Finley then scored Greene on an RBI single.

To end the scoring run, Finley came around on an RBI double from A.C. Riley.

The Lady Bulldogs added two additional runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth.

In the fifth inning, Kenna Edmondson lead with a single and Caraway walked.

Greene hit Edmondson and Caraway in on a two-run single.

Andalusia (16-6, 3-1 in Class 4A, Area 3) scored its last run in the sixth on an RBI single from Caraway to score Riley.

Caraway earned the victory on the mound. She struck out 13 batters.

Clarke County scored its two runs in the fourth inning on a passed ball and an error.

Riley was 2-for-5 with one single, one double, one RBI and one run; Edmondson was 2-for-4 with two singles and one run; Caraway was 1-for-4 with one single, one RBI and two runs; Young was 1-for-4 with one single and one run; Greene was 2-for-4 with one single, one double, four RBIs and one run; Finley was 1-for-4 with one single, one RBI and one run; and Ellie Pollock was 1-for-4 with one single.

Thomasville girls 3, Andalusia girls 0

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Thomasville scored three runs on no hits and two errors.

Caraway struck out nine in the loss.

Edmondson was 1-for-4 with one single; Riley was 1-for-4 with one single; Caraway was 1-for-3 with one single; and Greene was 1-for-3 with one single.

The Lady Bulldogs will play in their annual Spring Fling softball tournament today at the Andalusia Sports Complex. Andalusia starts at 9:15 a.m., against the winner of the Straughn-Charles Henderson game.
