Organizers of Andalusia’s Homecoming 2010 events are sending letters to potential partners for the special events planned for this November.

Barbara Nichols, who is chairing the event, said she began sending letters to potential sponsors about two weeks ago.

Her letters have a sports theme, and offer partners the opportunity to be touchdown (event), field goal ($1,000), first down ($500 to $999), court ($100 to $499) and fan ($25 to $99) sponsors.

Partners will be recognized in homecoming signage, publications and on event tickets.

Nichols is seeking partners for six projects, for which the city’s Tourism and Relocation committee should finalize plans later this month.

The four-day program of events, Andalusia’s participation in the state of Alabama’s “Year of Downtowns and Small Towns,” is built around the annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony. The committee is seeking sponsors for a reception at city hall on Nov. 11; Andalusia in Revue on the evening of Nov. 11; a Friday night street dance on Nov. 12; a Homecoming gala event on Sat., Nov. 13; a Dream Park Revitalization project; and homecoming yard sign sponsors.

Organizers of Andalusia’s Homecoming 2010 event hope all local residents will help them spread the word about events scheduled for this November.

In addition, South Alabama Regional Airport co-manager Jed Blackwell is chairing an air show committee, which also is seeking sponsors. The committee has contracted with David Schultz Air Shows for the event set for Sat., Nov. 13. It will include military demos, civilian aerobatics, formation flights, parachute jumping, vintage aircraft, a vintage car show and a bike show.
