The Florala Wildcats are going to the Class 1A state playoffs.

Florala split with Kinston Thursday night in an area doubleheader on the road.

The Wildcats (11-19, 2-2 in Class 1A, Area 3) earned the runner-up spot after beating the Bulldogs 11-8 in the first game.

Florala lost the second game, 11-1.

“We played pretty flat both games,” Florala coach Stan Gooden said. “We capitalized on some mistakes in the first game to win it. They made a few mistakes in the field and we were able to make it hurt.”

The Wildcats will play Brantley in the first round of the playoffs.
