Pleasant Home swept Fruitdale in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs Friday, defeating the Pirates 11-7 and 14-2.

The Eagles (20-7) will travel to play J.U. Blacksher next Friday night in the second round of the playoffs.

Pleasant Home coach Bradley Stephens said there was a big difference between the two games Friday.

“We knocked off a good bit of their runs and we got ready as far as playing,” Stephens said. “The boys had a good bit of time off and got put back together. In the end, we finally got back to our rhythm.”

Stephens said the first game didn’t start off well, but the team managed to score some runs to get the win.

“I thought in the first game we started off sluggish,” he said. “We started pulling it together in the end. In the second game, we were playing like we needed to. We started to hit the baseball and we started playing pretty good defense.”
