Lady Bulldogs hold off Pleasant Home

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs will vie for the area championship today as they host Clarke County at 3:30 p.m. at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

Tuesday night, the Lady Bulldogs defeated eighth-ranked Pleasant Home 15-13 at Lady Eagles field.

Andalusia scored three runs in the top of the first on an RBI single from Paige Caraway to score Kenna Edmondson, Omarria McGee stole home, and then Sam Greene hit Caraway in to score.

Pleasant Home answered with one run on a sac fly from Robyn Weaver.

The Lady Bulldogs (21-11, 4-1 in Class 4A, Area 3) added two runs in the second inning.

In that inning, Pleasant Home’s Caitlin Jernigan hit a two-run triple to score Megan Cook and Kat Dozier; and Weaver hit an RBI to score Woods.

Andalusia’s A.C. Riley got a two-run hit to score Megan Pugh and Kristen Finley in the top of the fourth.

Pleasant Home countered with one run in the fourth on an RBI single from Weaver to score Jernigan.

Andalusia added two runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning.

However, Pleasant Home scored seven in the seventh to give it 13 runs.
