The Old Three Notch Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution recognized six Covington County high school seniors as DAR Good Citizens at its annual tea this week.

Red Level’s DAR good citizen, Nikki Chandler, is the daughter of Tina Chandler.

AT RLHS, she is president of the Beta Club; president of JAG; treasurer of the Spanish Club; a Student Council representative; a member of the Science Club and Fellowship of Christian Students; part of the peer tutoring program; and producer of the senior video.

She plans to attend LBW and the University of South Alabama and pursue a career in education.

Andalusia DAR good citizen Charles Lee is the son of Lorraine Lee. He is a City of Andalusia Ambassador; a member of the SGA and Peer Helpers; and is a band captain. He was chosen Anchor Club’s favorite fellow; and named “class friendliest” and “class favorite” in Who’s Who. He also is band captain. He plans to pursue a career in nursing at Troy University.

Opp’s DAR good citizen, Katelyn Mikel, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Mikel. She is an honor graduate; a member of Mu Alpha Theta and Beta Club; and an Opp High School ambassador. She also is a member of the varsity basketball and softball teams.

Florala’s DAR good citizen, Joseph Norris, is the son of Cal and Lisa Norris.

He is the SGA treasurer; vice president of Mu Alpha Theta; president of French Club; president of Science Club; a member of Peer Helpers; second lieutenant of the band; and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Students and the yearbook staff. He plans to continue his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Straughn DAR good citizen Chase Parker is the son of Greg and Jackie Parker. He is a member of the varsity football and baseball teams; is vice president of the senior class; and vice president of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend LBWCC before transferring to Auburn University to pursue a civil engineering degree.

Pleasant Home DAR good citizen Kayla Woods is the daughter of Kenny and Wanda Woods.

She was the 2009 American Legion Auxiliary Girl’s State Representative; is a member of the varsity basketball, softball and volleyball teams; is a member of the Peer Helpers and Fellowship of Christian Athletes; is secretary of the Student Council; vice president of the Senior Beta Club; and president of FCCLA.

An honor student, she will continue her education at LBWCC where she has been awarded an LBW Ambassadors scholarship and a presidential scholarship.
