Jim Pursell

James D. “Jim” Pursell, 62, of Denham Springs, La., and a native of Andalusia, died Fri., April 2, 2010, at the Baton Rouge General Hospital.
He was a social worker by trade and a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, playing his mandolin and spending time in the country.
Visitation was held at Istrouma Baptist Church on Mon., April 5, from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ron Lambe.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Withers Pursell; a father-in-law, Larry Jones; a brother-in-law, James Withers; three nephews, Nicholas, Nathan and Luke Withers; two best friends, John Thayer and William Merrill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dot Pursell, and a brother, John Pursell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests live plants or donations to plant trees at his final resting place. Church Funeral Services of St. Amant, La., was in charge of arrangements.
