4 boys rec teams get wins

The A’s, Reds, Braves and Yankees (County) all earned one win each Tuesday night in 11-to-12-year-old Cal Ripken action at Johnson Park.

The A’s beat the Yankees (City) 13-5; the Reds beat the Indians 9-2; the Braves beat the Giants 10-0; and the Yankees (County) beat the Cardinals 21-9.

A’s 13, Yankees (City) 5

Scoring three runs each in the second and third innings paved the way for the A’s to beat the Yankees.

A. Kelley singled J. Perdue in, and then Kelley scored on a single by H. Carpenter for the A’s.

Carpenter later scored on a throwing error by the Yankees.

In the third inning, T. Cobb, C. Dorman and Perdue all scored for the A’s to give their team a 6-1 lead.

The Yankees’ one run in the third inning came on a double by B. Davis to score W. Jones.

The A’s added one run in the fourth and had a dominating fifth inning scoring six runs.

The Yankees added two runs in the fourth on one hit; and one run in the fifth on one hit.

Reds 9, Indians 2

The Reds were consistent in their scoring Tuesday night, scoring one run in the first inning. They added three runs in the second, two runs each in the third and fourth innings, and capped the game off in the fifth scoring one run.

For the Reds, Lane Sirmon doubled Riley Graham in in the first inning; T. Earnest, C. Strickland and T. Clark scored in the second inning on three hits and two walks; J. Ossenfort and W. Adams scored in the third inning on a double by Strickland; Graham and Sirmon scored in the fourth inning on errors; and J. Hartz scored in the fifth on a walk.

The Indians scored their two runs in the sixth inning.

Braves 10, Giants 0

The Braves scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the second, four in the third and three in the fifth to get the win.

Chaslton and Pinkard scored in the first inning; Whatley scored in the second; Pinkard, Stewart, Odom and Whatley scored in the third; and Chaslton, Whitman and Whatley scored in the fifth.

Yankees (County) 21, Cardinals 9

Yankees (County) players D. George scored four runs; J. Driver scored two runs; S. Jones scored three runs; T. Ballard scored two runs; C. Channell scored three runs; E. Wood scored three runs; C. Harris scored two runs; and M. Lanier and S. Catrett scored one run each in the 12-run win over the Cardinals.

For the Cardinals, Shirey scored one run; Ward scored one run; Bowden scored two runs; Piggot scored one run; Whitehurst scored one run; Mason scored one run; Mancil scored one run; and Fleming scored one run.
