“We had to settle down after that first inning, and Paige (Caraway) started to locate down, which when she does that, then we’ve got a chance (to win),” Andalusia coach Marcus Taylor said about the second game against UMS-Wright. “Really and truly, the game was the back end of the line up in hitting. From the five spot back, they did an excellent job of hitting.”
Friday morning was a different story for Andalusia (26-14), as the Lady Bulldogs fell to Dallas County 3-0.
Andalusia will play (insert loser here between St. James-Thomasville) today at 8 a.m. on Field No. 5.

Andalusia 2, UMS-Wright 1
Andalusia center fielder Ellie Pollock hit the game winning RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning to help lead her team knock UMS-Wright out of the regional tournament.
Sam Greene got the inning started with a single that flew over the UMS-Wright’s short stop’s head. Megan Pugh then hit a single to put runners on first and second.
A passed ball then helped advance both Greene and Megan Pugh to second and third, respectively.
“Sam would dink those singles; Ellie would dink them in there, and then those last two at bats, Kristen Finley dinked them in there,” Taylor said. “That whole back end of the order just did a great, and a lot of times it was with two outs. They just did an outstanding job of hitting.”
After that, it was history as Greene scored the game winning run off of Pollock’s single.
Winning pitcher Caraway allowed one run and struck out eight.
UMS-Wright scored one run in the top of the first inning, and Andalusia tied the game up in the fourth on a single from Abbie Young.

Dallas County 3, Andalusia 0
Dallas County’s Daniels allowed one hit on no runs and struck out 15 to help lead her team in a 3-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Taylor said it is hard to win a game without getting any hits.
“No. 1 – we only got one hit, and anytime you only get one hit, you’re going to have a tough time winning,” he said. “We walked some batters, and that came back to hurt us. Dallas County is a good team. I’ll be the first to say it.”
Dallas County drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning on a double from Daniels to score Mott. Then, in the bottom of the third, Mott scored again on a walk by Ingram.
Dallas County sealed the win in the sixth inning on Mott’s RBI that scored courtesy runner Stewart.
Dallas County’s Veach was 1-for-4 with one double; Daniels was 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI; Denson was 1-for-3 with one single; Ingram was 0-for-3 with one RBI; Gould was 1-for-3 with one single and one run; and Spears was 1-for-3 with one single.
Caraway struck out nine and allowed three runs on six hits in six innings for the loss.
