4 Ripken teams get win

In 11-to-12-year-old Cal Ripken action Tuesday night at Johnson Park, the Cardinals, Reds, Twins and Indians earned one win each.

The Cardinals beat the Yankees (City) 9-1; the Reds beat the Giants 12-4; the Twins beat the Braves 9-3; and the Indians won against the A’s 10-8.

Cardinals 9, Yankees (City) 1

The Cardinals scored four runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 7-1, and to win the game.

In the third inning, the Cardinals scored three runs and then scored two in the sixth.

Shirey scored three runs; and Ward, Bowden, Pigget, Mason, Mancil and Fleming scored one run each for the Cardinals.

The Yankees scored its only run in the fourth inning.

Reds 12, Giants 4

The Reds scored five runs in the second inning, three runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth to get the victory over the Giants.

For the Reds, Walker, Graham and Sirmon scored three runs each; Ossenfort scored two runs; and Clark scored one run.

The Giants scored one run in the second, two runs in the third; and one run in the fifth inning.

Adams scored one run; and Barton scored three runs for the Giants.

Twins 9, Braves 3

The Twins shot out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning, added one run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to get the six-run win over the Braves.

Jacob Hawkins, Gage Worley and Hank Peeples scored two runs each; and Brock Hammett, Caylor Cosby and Campbell Hudson scored one run each for the Twins.

The Braves scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth.

Indians 10, A’s 8

The Indians chopped their way past the A’s in the two-run win Tuesday night.

They scored four runs in the first inning, one run in the second, one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.

W. Weaver and M. Greathouse scored three runs each; S. Mitchell scored two runs; and A. Torres and S. Swartz scored one run each for the Indians.

For the A’s, D. Scott, J. Perdue, D. Jordan and O. Nearor scored one each; and C. Dorman and H. Carpenter scored two runs each.
