Since the closing of Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken, rumors have been flying that fellow Andalusia restaurants, Hardee’s and Huddle House, will soon follow suit.

Nothing could be further from the truth, said store managers Wednesday.

“We’ve gotten so many calls and questions on Facebook about when and why we’re closing,” said Huddle House manager Cristin Murphy. “A lot of people said our employees had been given 30 days to find another job, which alarmed our employees.

“I guess it was because KFC and Movie Gallery closed so quick, all at one time, people thought we were next,” she said. “The rumor is totally not true.”

The same can be said for the other nearby Huddle House restaurants in Florala and Enterprise, Murphy said.

In fact, business has been “great,” she said.

To let residents know there was no truth to the rumor, store officials opted to post the message on the store’s billboard.

“We thought that was the quickest and easiest way to get people’s attention, and hopefully get the word to travel that we’re here to stay,” she said.

As for Hardee’s, the speculation was that the restaurant, which is located on U.S. Hwy. 84, would be shutting its doors in three weeks – making it the latest in the string of fast food closings in Andalusia.

“If that’s true, no one has told us about it,” Nadine Smith said. “If fact, business has been great for us lately. We hope it stays that way.”
