TIMOTHY JAMES “T.J.” FLEMING

Timothy James “T.J.” Fleming, 20, of Lockhart, passed away Tues., May 25, 2010, at his residence after courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 14, 1990, to Mike and April Fleming. He was diagnosed with a rare type of glandular cancer in his head/throat region in January 2010, which spread at a rapid pace, but not before he touched the lives of many.

He was a 2008 graduate of Florala High School, where he played football and baseball and was among the top 10 graduates. After graduating, he attended Enterprise-Ozark Community College on a baseball scholarship before transferring to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, where he continued to play baseball.

On and off the field, T.J. was a very driven and focused young man who always gave his all. He was quick to help and never complained. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He was so jubilant and full of life that his laughter filled ever room he was in. Even during his difficult battle with cancer, he remained strong and kept his faith in God.

His strength, courage and will to fight have impacted our community in ways that are difficult to fully express in words. He was, is and will always be a blessing to our community. He gives us all a new meaning to the quote, “When times get tough, the tough get going.” He is an inspiration to us all.
