School is out and the Memorial Day weekend has officially passed – summer break has begun.

For rising second graders at Andalusia Elementary School, their summer breaks are filled with all sorts of fun, ranging from beach trips to vacation Bible school to art classes.

“We’re going to the beach and I’m excited,” Karibya Chambers said. “We’re going to get a motel with a kitchen. I’m also staying with my nanny for the summer.”

Hailey Fowler said she’s attending Camp SonShine at Southside Baptist Church.

“I’m excited about going,” she said. “Other than that, I don’t really know what we’re going to do.”

For C.J. Harrelson and Isaiah Brundidge, they’re going to participate in their favorite sport – fishing.

“I’m going fishing,” Harrelson said. “It’s my favorite sport, and we may be moving to Prattville.”

“We’re going fishing. I like to fish,” Brundidge said. “We fish all the time. I like catfish.”

Bay Merrell has plenty of plans for her summer, she said.

“I’m going to vacation Bible school,” Merrell said. “We’re going to the beach. I’m taking art classes in June and spending the night at my grandparents’ house. We’re also moving into a new house.”

Summer is birthday time for Layla Isemann.

“I’m going to have my birthday July 14,” she said. “We’re going to play games and go to the park.”

Tre Lawrence said he’ll spend his summer watching TV and swimming.

“Hopefully, we’ll go to the beach and much more,” he said.

Jaheim Bonam said he’ll spend the summer spending time with his friends.

“I’m going to my friend T.J.’s house and Mrs. Searcy’s class,’ he said. “I’ll also play wrestling game and shoot basketball and play football with my friends.”
