They are all activities available as part of the 4-H summer program.

Students will learn to sew and create their own clothes every Wednesday in June from 10 a.m. to noon.

“This is a continuation of our sewing club we were doing during the school year,” 4-H assistant agent Tanya Bales said. “We only have about five participants for each group as of this week, so we are really looking for more. All of our local activities are free.”

The sewing club is a group that comes together to sew and is for beginners and pros, Bales said. “They choose their project and work on it weekly,” she said. “Finished products are taken home or entered in county sewing contests held throughout the year.”

For the equestrian-friendly folks, they will meet every Tuesday in June from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to learn the ins and outs of horse judging. They’ll also visit a state horse show.

“The horse club learns about general care, maintenance and history of the horse,” she said. “We are also starting a riding program that will begin in August.”

A shooting sports day camp will be held June 21 through 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who plan to attend will learn the firearm safety and how to properly use firearms.

Summer is the time for outdoor camps and 4-Hers will travel to Niceville, Fla., for Summer Camp Timpoochee July 5 through 9 for a four-night, five-day adventure.

The cost is $200 and all lodging, meals, transportation and souvenirs are included in the price.
