Attendees were treated to a science lesson from Birmingham’s McWane Center.

Students learned what liquids are; what the coldest place in the world is; what happens when balloons are put into liquid nitrogen; if liquid nitrogen is poisonous; and that Mentos can make Sprite erupt.

Attendees Jonathan Craft and Michaelyn Russell were the “brave” ones who tasted the liquid nitrogen to see what would happen.

Prior to the event, there was a balloon release ceremony.

The program will continue through the first week of July.
