In 13-to-15-year-old Babe Ruth action Friday night, the Phillies and the Braves (Evergreen) came out with wins at Johnson Park.

The Phillies beat the Cardinals (Evergreen) 2-0, and the Red Sox (Andalusia) fell to the Braves (Evergreen) 12-2.

Phillies pitcher Hunter Odom allowed no runs on three hits and struck out three batters in the five-inning game to help lead his team to the 2-0 win over the visiting Cardinals from Evergreen.

The Phillies scored one run in the first inning, and one run in the fourth in the win.

Kaleb Powell scored in the first inning on a hit-by-pitch to Austin Whitehurst.

In the fourth inning, Ty Hammett scored on an RBI from Troy Greathouse.

Throughout the game, the Phillies’ defense shut down any possible scoring opportunity the Cardinals were vying for catching pop ups and throwing out runners at first base.

Braves (Evergreen) 12, Red Sox (Andalusia) 2

The Braves scored six runs in the third inning to break away from the Red Sox and for the 10-run mercy rule to end the game in five innings.

The Red Sox scored their only runs in the third inning when L. Denny and T. Veasey scored on errors.

The Braves scored two runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning.

For the Braves, LaBarron D. scored three runs; Mike B. and T. Salter scored two runs each; and Brandon T., Adam B., Taylor C., S. Hamby and D. Gravitt scored one run each in the win.
