The Andalusia Board of Education is one step closer to having all of its jobs filled.

The board Monday hired Addie Simpson, who retired from AMS in May, to return to the school to teach art part-time.

Interim superintendent Ted Watson said the board will meet again next Monday, July 26, to finalize two more jobs, and told board members he expected to have “exciting news” for AHS.

“We hope to fill the music position at the high school on a part-time basis,” Watson said. “The person we had hired as the discovery teacher at the middle school backed out, so we still have to fill that one.”

In other business Monday, the board granted a leave of absence to Sharyn Smith, business education teacher at AMS, for the first semester under the family medical leave act.
