The Covington County Republican Party will have one state and one federal candidate at its August meeting, set for 6 p.m. this coming Mon., Aug. 2, at David’s Catfish in Andalusia.

“I’m pleased that we have confirmed that Martha Roby, the GOP candidate for Congress, and Young Boozer, the GOP candidate for state treasurer, will be in attendance at our August meeting,” Party chairman William Blocker said. “This is a great opportunity for the community to meet these two candidates, who very possibly will be serving us in Montgomery and Washington next year.”

Roby defeated two opponents in the Republican Primary and run-off to become the GOP nominee to fill the 2nd Congressional seat.

Boozer served the state recently as deputy finance director.

Local GOP candidates are also expected to be in attendance.

Dinner will be served for this meeting. The party will cover a portion of the cost for the meals, so each person will only be billed $5. For planning purposes, call 222-2907 if you will attend.
