Tropical Storm Earl forms in Atlantic

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Earl has formed in the open Atlantic Ocean, but the system is far from land.

Earl has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 kph) and is expected to become a hurricane by Friday.

In the Pacific, Hurricane Frank developed off Mexico’s coast. Frank has maximum sustained winds near 75 mph (120 kph). Frank is located about 240 miles (385 kilometers) south of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico.

Also in the open Atlantic, Hurricane Danielle is moving northwest with winds of about 85 mph (140 kph). The forecast track has Danielle heading toward Bermuda over the next several days.
