More than 20 grams of crack cocaine was discovered during a Wednesday night traffic stop made by Covington County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Drug Task Force.

Terrance Henry, 31, of Evergreen was pulled over on Prestwood Bridge Road for a traffic violation; however, when deputies conducted a search, they discovered multiple bags of crack cocaine in his possession, some marijuana and assorted items of drug paraphernalia.

It is one of the more significant drug finds in recent months, law enforcement officers said. It has a street value estimated at more than $2,000.

Henry was placed under arrest and booked into the Covington County Jail under a $23,000 bond.

His arrest was made as part of a weeklong traffic overtime blitz made possible through grant funds from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and administered by the Southeast Alabama Regional Highway Safety Office.

The blitz ended Thursday, and deputies worked a total of 187 hours of overtime and made 438 contacts. Of those, deputies made four driving while under the influence arrests and four drug-related arrests, issued 47 speeding tickets and 24 insurance violations, and served 20 misdemeanor warrants and seven felony warrants, as well as issued numerous citations for other traffic violations. Deputies also wrote 79 warnings for speeding, equipment violations and driver’s license violations.
