Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer through the Volunteers in Schools program of Andalusia City Schools has four opportunities to complete an orientation in the next three weeks.

VIS Coordinator Marrianne DuBose said every volunteer must go through this process.

“Anyone who might be interested in volunteering can attend the orientation,” she said. “It will give them basic information about what is expected of them as and what the volunteers should expect from the school system.

“The great thing about it is if they aren’t sure if they want to volunteer or not this is a great time for them to come and see if it’s a good fit for them,” she said. “It only takes about 30 minutes.”

DuBose said pre-registration through the central office is required.

“Just call the superintendent’s office and inform them of the date you’d like to attend,” she said.

Upcoming dates are Tues., Sept. 29 at 8 a.m.; Tues., Oct. 5 at 8 a.m.; Thurs., Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.; and Thurs., Oct. 14 at 5:15 p.m.

All orientations are held at Andalusia Elementary School in the multipurpose room on the blue hall.

Please call the Andalusia City Schools Central Office at 334-222-3186 ext. 7 to register for one of the orientation dates.
