Absentee voting deadline Oct. 28

Absentee voting is now under way for the Nov. 2 general election, Circuit Clerk Roger Powell saidMonday.

Deadline for filing an application is Thurs., Oct. 28, at 5 p.m.

To vote by absentee ballot, one must submit an application in writing no less than five days prior to the election.

For a complete list of criteria and an application, visitthe Covington County Courthouse or the state Secretary of State’s Web page at www.alabamavotes.gov

Powell said provisions for medical and business emergencies on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 exsist.

“Also, remember the voter must be the one to hand deliver the completed application or ballot back to the clerk’s office,” he said.

“No one else can do it.”

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Fri., Oct. 22.

There are 26 seats on the Nov. 2 local ballot, four statewide amendments and one local amendment.

Sample ballots are available at the courthouse, Board of Registrar’s office and at any public library.
