Lockart’s annual “Fun in the Park” trick or treat event might be called “popsicles in the park,” as temperatures are expected plummet from the usual balmy nights so that cool weather can make its debut in Covin-gton County.

The day is expected to dawn with cloudy skies, a high of 80 and a 30 percent chance of rain today; however, tonight is a different story when forecasters are predicting clear skies with lows in the 40s – yes, in the 40s.

The National Weather Service shows that a low-pressure system is pushing a cold front over the East Coast, which will trigger scattered showers from north to south – and with it, bring much, much cooler temperatures to the region.

Tonight’s low is expected to register at 45 degrees.

For the football Friday, it’s going to be much of the same, with a high in the low 70s and lows in the low 40s.

The rain should move out of the area to make way for abundant sunshine on Saturday.

The nightly low in the 40s will remain a constant throughout Sunday.
