The Andalusia High School class of 1961 celebrated their 50th reunion Oct. 1 and 2. They attended the breakfast and homecoming assembly Friday morning at AHS and rode on their class float in the parade wearing their AHS 50th reunion T-shirts. Friday night, they enjoyed a seafood buffet at Tabby D’s and visiting afterward at the home of Melissa Merrill Gambill. Saturday, they were treated to a brunch at Pete and Judy Donaldson’s farm in Kinston. Saturday night they enjoyed their 50th anniversary gala at the Andalusia Country Club, which included a delicious buffet served with an anniversary cake. They enjoyed visiting with classmates and their spouses, watching a class video that included pictures from former reunions and class members and their families, while listening to a DJ playing ‘60s music. They had as their guests former teachers Tommy and Sherry Rabren Flowers, former coaches Shelby Searcy and Rachel and Robert Waller and his wife Ann. Lacey Powell, their band director and his wife Margaret, also attended. Around 90 of their class members and guests enjoyed all or part of the weekend festivities.
