An ensemble cast is being assembled the February production of ACT I’s “Once Upon a Mattress.”

All that’s needed to make the production a success is “you,” said ACT I Director Rhonda Ricks.

“If you love to sing and dance, then we need you for auditions on Nov. 15 and 16,” Ricks said. “We’re going to be doing ‘Once Upon a Mattress,’ which is based on the story of The Princess and the Pea. It’s a musical, and it is hilarious.”

The cast calls for players in the age range of “older teen to whatever,” Ricks said.

“The cast requirements are three women and six men principal players, one woman and one man featured players, and a large ensemble consisting of ladies-in-waiting, knights, soldiers, servants and musicians,” she said. “There are many speaking parts large and small, and the costumes will be period pieces. This is going to be a fantastic production.”

The play will be under the musical direction of Paula Sue Duebelt, and Ricks will serve as director. Performance dates will be the last weekend in February.

Rehearsals will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings and, the holidays will be observed.

“Come join us for fun, hard work, and the time of your life,” she said.
