Homecoming activities begin with Veterans Day

Homecoming 2010 festivities kick off in less than one week.

Here’s an at-a-glace itinerary of highlights to make sure residents don’t miss one minute of the fun, food and flight.

Thurs., Nov. 11

• 9 a.m. – “All American Homecoming Parade,” Veterans Day ceremony and dedication of the city’s historic marker in front of city hall.

• 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. – Historic district walking tour.

• 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. – “Absolutely Andalusia: Then and Now – a Gallery of Art” (For a sneak peak, see Page 1 B.)

• 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. – Visit the welcome center at First Methodist Church.

• 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. – Dream Park renovation reveal.

• 7 p.m. – Andalusia in Revue at the LBW Dixon Center. Tickets are $5 each and available, while they last, at City Hall, Ansley Place, Harold’s, Darby’s and the Bass Agency.

Fri., Nov. 12

• 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. – Visit the welcome center at First Baptist Church.

• 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. – Street dance.

• All day events – Walking tours of historic venues and sidewalk tour.

Sat., Nov. 13

• 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. – Air show at the South Alabama Regional Airport featuring the Air Force’ A-10 Warthogs.

• 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. – Visit the welcome center at First Baptist Church. Closed from noon until 2 p.m.

• 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. – “Visions of Thread and Fabric” quilt show and until 6 p.m., “Then and Now – A Gallery of Art.”

• 6 p.m. – Absolutely Andalusia Gala. For tickets, call Barbara Nichols 427-0454 or Jeannie Metzger at 427-1215. Limited tickets available.

• All day events – Walking tours of historic venues and sidewalk tour

Sun., Nov. 14

• Area church homecomings

• 2 p.m. – Covington Arts Council presents Lily Cai.
