Monday’s bout of severe thunderstorms caused at least one traffic accident and a small power outage.

The rain began falling heavily on Covington County shortly before 2 p.m., prompting police to respond to a one-vehicle accident scene approximately two miles north of the Gitty-Up-N-Go in Red Level shortly after 2:30 p.m. Preliminary reports indicated at least one person was injured when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

A short time later, emergency crews were also dispatched to remove a tree that had fallen over a power line in Wing.

For today, the National Weather Service indicates that this morning’s rain showers are expected to taper off quickly as a cold front moves into the area, dropping the daytimes from the mid-70s to the mid-60s through Friday.

Nightly lows are expected to range between 43 degrees tonight to the mid-30s on Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday, the high is expected near 74 degrees, with nightly lows near 46 degrees.
