Dreaming of chasing a neon rainbow? Well, tonight’s “Singing Bee” could be your chance.

Two lucky crowd participants will have the opportunity to take the stage in this weekend’s Covington County Relay for Life fund-raising event, set for 7 p.m. on the Court Square.

“We’ll have eight contestants who are already chosen,” said organizer Tabitha Linzy. “Then we’ll choose a male and female from the crowd.”

Among the entertainment are Walt Merrell, H.D. Edgar, Jeffrey Douglas, John Stephens, Kim Killough, Tamara Harrelson, Marlana Raines and Amy Dugger, who will be accompanied by the “Singing B’s” —Ted Watson, Tambri Nix, Clay Thomasson and Linzy. When they stop singing, that’s when contestants have to fill in the blank, Linzy said.

Lorraine McCart will emcee the event.

Contestants will pass a bucket in an attempt to raise money for Relay for Life.

“We’ll all be dressed in the ‘80s,” she said. “Last year, we raised $700 with three major ballgames going on. We’re hoping we’ll have a really big crowd this year.”

All contestants and committee members should arrive at 6 p.m., Linzy said.
