An Andalusia man has been charged with manslaughter following a Friday afternoon wreck on Morgan Road in Red Level.

Carl Edward Miller II, 39, was charged when the afternoon wreck claimed the life of Red Level resident Richard Lee Perry, 49, who was the passenger in the 1995 Ford F150.

State Trooper Public Information Officer Kevin Cook said the initial investigations shows that Miller was traveling over the posted speed limit when he lost control, struck a ditch and overturned.

“Perry and Miller, who were both unrestrained, were ejected from the vehicle,” Cook said.

Covington County Coroner Norman Hobson pronounced Perry dead at the scene.

Miller was uninjured in the crash and was arrested at the scene and transported to the Covington County jail under a $250,000 bond.

Cook said that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
