It’s going to be a cold and wet Black Friday for local shoppers.

Weather officials are predicting the spring-like temperatures from the first part of the week will disappear as today’s weather is forecasted to be the opposite of recent days. Today, the National Weather Service indicates there is a 70 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before noon. The afternoon is expected to be cloudy, with a high near 69 degrees.

Tonight’s low is expected to be near freezing.

“People should remember to utilize caution when out and about not only shopping, but also traveling on the roadways (today),” said Chief Deputy David Anderson. “With the forecast predicting heavy showers, make sure your headlights are on if your wipers are on. Deputies will be out working a traffic overtime grant to target speeders, impaired drivers and anyone not obeying the traffic safety laws.

“When you do get out and shop, make sure you secure your vehicle,” he said. “Ladies need to make sure to keep their purses close to them or secured to a buggy. Please watch out for children when navigating the parking lots, and when you’re driving home, please be aware of deer and hunters.”

Saturday’s weather will be a repeat of Friday, minus the rain, with a predicted high of 60 degrees.

Sunday will dawn cool and crisp with a high of 69 degrees and a nightly low of 44 degrees.

Temperatures will peak again and a chance of rain will re-emerge on Monday and Tuesday with a predicted high of 77 degrees before dropping down into the 60s for the remainder of the week.
