Call it “a labor of love” from the First United Methodist Church choir.

Members of the FUMC choir, under the direction of Paula Sue Duebelt, recently released a recording titled “With a Voice of Singing.”

The CD features a mixture of seasonal music – Christmas, Easter, patriotic tunes – and church songs, Duebelt said. It includes an instrumental of the hymn “Victory in Jesus.”

Duebelt said her favorite is the “Pieta.”

“We were fortunate to have great instrumentalists like Louisa Mann (pianist), John Beasley (organist) and Patty Meyer (flutist),” she said.

Duebelt’s neighbor, George Payne, recorded the music for the album.

“I have been doing audio, video and book projects like this for Christian ministries for more than 19 years,” he said.

“But this is the first I can remember for a local ministry. That made it real special for me to help out.

“No matter what skill I may have brought to the music project, it would be nothing if the choir’s talent wasn’t there,” he said. “I was real pleased with the outcome. I think anyone who listens to the CD will agree that it rises way above just another CD into the realm of a special blessing from God,” he said.
