Babbie VFD gets $12,873

WASHINGTON – Funding in the amount of $12,873 for the Babbie Volunteer Fire Department was among the $211,351 in appropriations to Alabama fire departments announced by U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) Monday

Shelby is a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and is to be used for operations and safety programs.

Other awards went to Ward Volunteer Fire Department, located in Sumter County; Hoover Fire Department; and Lipscomb Fire and Rescue in Jefferson County.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG).
