Pleasant Home’s Raven Woods scored 13 points to help lead her team to a 37-21 victory over Excel on Friday night.

The young Lady Eagles basketball team improved to 4-4 on the season before the start of their Christmas break.

Pleasant Home led 5-4 after the first period, and outscored the Lady Panthers 5-1 to lead 10-5 at the break.

“We do some good things, and we do some bad things,” PHS girls coach Kelley Garner said about the first half. “We’ve just got to get real consistent doing some good things. We played well in the second half (Friday night).”

In the second half, the Lady Eagles came out a new team getting buckets on transition and stepping up on defense to outscore the Lady Panthers 16-8 in the third period and 11-8 in the fourth period.

“We just are still young, and we’re trying to find who our scorers are going to be,” Garner said. “We’ve got to find some girls that are going to step up and score. I thought we hustled a little better and controlled the tempo in the second half.”

Mary Schwartz also had a good night for the Lady Eagles scoring eight points.

The Lady Eagles will play host to the Alabama-Florida Boys and Girls Shoot Out from Dec. 30-Jan. 1.
