Suspect in murder attempt arrested in Red Level

A man wanted for allegedly stabbing another man outside a South Carolina bar Dec. 23 was found in Coving-ton County Tuesday.

Chief Deputy David Ander-son said Timothy Ray Kirkland, 46, was located at approximately 3 p.m. at a home in the Red Level area after the sheriff’s office received information about Kirkland’s location.

Kirkland was taken into custody without incident.

The Lexington County Chronicle in Lexington, S.C., reported that Kirkland allegedly stabbed James Campbell outside of Calloway’s Bar. Campbell was taken to a local hospital and is now recovering from the wounds.

As a result, Kirkland was wanted for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He is now in the Covington County Jail awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
