When Alabama and Michigan State take the field today in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Michigan native and Florala resident Lisa McNeill said despite her upbringing as a MSU fan, she will be behind the Crimson Tide all the way.

McNeill moved to Florala in 1980, has lived there ever since and is a self-proclaimed “die-hard” Alabama fan.

McNeill’s father, Richard Feigel, a retired firefighter who lives in Taylor, Mich., six months out of the year, will be pulling for the Spartans.

“We’ve decided we won’t be watching the game together,” McNeill quipped.

This Christmas, McNeill said she has received the MSU “Go Green” cards from her cousin, Marc Carney of Arizona, and sister, Lana Honeycutt of Trenton, Mich.

“My cousin graduated from Michigan State, so him and my sister both have sent me ‘Go Green’ cards,” she said. “I’ve just had to rally back with a ‘Roll Tide.’

“I’ll be pulling hard for Alabama, and if we don’t win, then I won’t be answering the phone,” she said.

McNeill also has a sister, Tammy Holley of Andalusia, whose daughter, Christa, attends the University of Alabama.

“They’re huge Alabama fans,” she said.

Over the Christmas holidays, McNeill said her dad did not dawn his Spartans gear.

“He did us all a favor, and did not wear his Spartans shirt, and I didn’t wear my Bama shirt,” McNeill said. “My dad is an Alabama fan, and would normally pull for Alabama if they weren’t playing Michigan State.

“I’d pull for Michigan State if they weren’t playing Bama,” she said.

When asked whether she thinks Alabama can pull out the win, McNeill said yes.

“I definitely think Bama can pull out the win,” she said. “My dad and I have already had that conversation as well.”
