A report of suspicious activity landed two Opp residents in the Covington County Jail Monday.

Chief Deputy David Anderson said Tuesday that the deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy. 84, where they found a tan Chevrolet van sitting in front of a vacant residence.

Anderson said Warren Francis McDonald III, 23, of Perry Store Road in Opp, and Gigi Hope Cooper, 19, of Perry Store Road in Opp were identified at the scene.

“Two suspects were observed in the residence,” he said. “The van also contained numerous items that had apparently been taken out of the residence.”

Anderson said the front and back doors of the residence showed signs of forced entry.

“After talking with the son of the property owner, it was determined that the suspects did not have permission to be in the residence,” he said. “The suspects were arrested and charged with third degree burglary and second degree theft of property, and were released on $20,000 bond each.”
