Florala’s boys varsity basketball team lost to Georgiana 67-44 in regular season action on Saturday.

The Wildcats trailed 15-8 after the first period, and 41-21 at half time.

Florala cut the game to 14 points in the third period, and 12 points in the fourth, but couldn’t come out with a win.

“They were extremely fast,” FHS coach Brad Garner said. “They’re a very athletic bunch. We had some good things go our way.”

Hunter Oswald led the Wildcats with 19 points, and Erik Vega had 16 points.

“That was probably Hunter’s best game,” Garner said. “We’re still trying to get everybody to hit on all cylinders. Maybe we can put some points on the board.”

Tonight, the Wildcats will travel to face county rival Pleasant Home in area action. Then, on Friday night, Florala will end its regular season area play at home against Geneva County.

“This week we’ll finish our area schedule,” Garner said. “We’ve got a lot of home games at the end (4-out-of-6).”

In varsity girls action, the Lady Wildcats beat the Lady Panthers 37-31.

Lindsey Edwards helped Florala with the win by scoring 10 points, all of which were scored in the fourth period.

Mariah Thompson led the Lady Wildcats with 17 points.

Additionally, the B-team boys lost 42-16.
