Extras and volunteers are needed for the February production of “59 minutes: Weak End.”

In the skit, which is being hosted by the Covin-gton County Children’s Policy Council Coalition and local law enforcement, local talent will push the anti-drug and alcohol awareness message.

“This is a very educational message that our young people need to see and hear for themselves,” said Brandy Smith, event organizer.

Smith said the 59-minute skit will take viewers through approximately 10 themed rooms, each designed to educate teens on the dangers of prescription pill and alcohol abuse.

“We have a party scene, a court room scene, a wreck scene – all typical places you would see this type of behavior,” Smith said. “I have eight local teens who will play the main characters, but we really need extras to make these scenes realistic.”

The event will be held Feb. 23 and 24 at the Andalusia Police Department Training Facility from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

“We hope on that Wednesday, which is Feb. 23, to see a lot of youth groups from area churches,” Smith said. “For those who have a large group and want to avoid a wait, we’re asking that they call and set up a time for the tour; and, we encourage every member of the community to come and see the performance.”

Smith said extras and volunteers are not obligated for both night’s performances.

“The way this is going to work is that every half hour we’re going to have a new group of viewers start through,” Smith said. “Anyone who wants to volunteer can do so whenever they want. We just need the help.”
