Opp approves beer license

The Opp City Council approved an off-premise beer license for The Lake Grocery near Frank Jackson Lake Tuesday night.

Kim Chatham and Buffy Wilkerson applied for the license and will sell retail beer and tobacco.

Mayor H.D. Edgar also proclaimed this week Sanctity of Human Life week.

“The city joins our churches and individuals throughout the area in support of our local crisis pregnancy center ministry, Sav-A-Life of Covington County ,and we believe that life is a gift from God and that all lives are precious and to be valued,” the proclamation states.

In other business:

• City Planner Don Childre said the new fire truck came in Tuesday and the public is invited to view it.
