MACK GASTON COTTLE

Mack Gaston Cottle, 79, of Gantt, died Fri., Jan. 21, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Sun., Jan. 23, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Coldwater Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Ducharme and the Rev. Benjy Wilson officiating. Special music was provided by Susan Gantt and Jackie Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Janice Cottle of Gantt; his daughter and son-in-law, Mackie and James Stephens of Gantt; his sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Lyndia Cottle and Carol and Kay Cottle of Gantt; his grandchildren, Joshua Mack Cottle and Justin David Cottle; a brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Betty Cottle; and several nieces and nephews

VIDA IRENE SCRUGGS COOPER

Vida Irene Scruggs Cooper, 74, of Red Level, passed away Mon., Jan. 24, 2011, in a Prattville hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 27, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Glass officiating and interment following in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Cooper of Prattville, Scott (Angie) Cooper and Mark Cooper, all of Red Level; and two daughters, Judy (Tom) Klipp of St. Louis, Mo., and Patricia (Allen) Harbuck of Pickerington, Ohio; brothers and sisters, Juanita Atkison, Bobbie Jean Higdon, Buddy Scruggs, Jimmy Scruggs, Shirley Whittington, Diane Cartwright, Robert Scruggs, Ronald Scruggs, Brenda Scruggs, Larry Scruggs and Sue Bush; grandchildren, Jeff Klipp, Sarah Klipp, Adam Klipp, Todd Harbuck, Matthew Harbuck, Brandon Cooper, Michelle Aplin, Josh Cooper, Amanda Jackson and Cody Cooper; and 11 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Russell Harbuck and Nathaniel Cooper, and a sister, Pamela Scruggs.

WILLIAM THOMAS PRESTOOD

William Thomas Prestwood, 69, of Huntsville, passed away Sun., Jan. 23, 2011.

Born in Florala, Mr. Prestwood supported the development of the Saturn moon rocket and Skylab space station at NASA’s Marshall Spaceflight Center. He retired from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command after 32 years of service.

Funeral services will be held Fri., Jan. 28, at 2 p.m., at Fairmount Baptist Church in Red Level with the Pastor Drexel Copeland officiating and burial following in Fairmount Baptist Cemetery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Foreman Brown Service Funeral Home.

Survivors include his sister, Rebecca Anne Prestwood, and his aunt, Wylene Ellis, both of Red Level.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Brandon Prestwood, and his mother, Minnie Ruth Griffin.

MARION TOMMIE DAVIS

Marion Tommie Russell Davis, 76, of Andalusia, died Mon., Jan. 24, 2011, at her residence.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 27, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating and interment following the services.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Foreman’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Olan Davis; parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. (Mamie) Russell, and a sister, Frankie Coker.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Reed (Twyla) Davis of Andalusia and Jeff (Bobbie) Davis of Rawls Community; two grandchildren, Brad (Rachael) Davis of Andalusia and Candace Davis of the Rawls Community; one step-grandchild, Michael Chad Petty of Andalusia; and a sister, Jimmie (Paul) Floyd of Red Level.

BILLY GENE WILLIAMS

Billy Gene Williams, 70, of Andalusia, died Mon., Jan. 24, 2011, in the Opp Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 24, at the Buck Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Turman officiating.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, May Belle Williams of Andalusia; his sons and daughter-in-law, Donald Gene Williams and John Paul Williams, both of Andalusia, Anthony Ray (Diane) Williams of Red Level and Arthur Kendall Williams of Andalusia; stepchildren, Gerald D. (Melba) Robinson of Loango, Johnny Ray Robinson of Foley and Melina Diane (John) Hathaway of S.C.; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Junior (Jolene) Williams of Red Level.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Annie Bell Williams, and his sister, Dorothy Jean Faust Comer.

Pallbearers will be Cory Carter, Donald Maddox, Vernell Berry, Jonathan Neal, Robbie Williams, Josh Johns and Ty Williams

MARTHA J. “BOBBIE” MOUNT

Martha J. “Bobbie” Mount, 83, passed away on Jan. 6, 2011, in Maryland.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1928, the oldest daughter of Cecil and Lilla Mount, longtime residents of Andalusia.

After graduation from Andalusia High School, she went to Washington, D.C., and began a long career with the Department of Agriculture, retiring after 36 years of service.

A memorial graveside service will be held today, Wed., Jan. 26, at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Roy Holland Weaver, a friend of the family, will give the eulogy.

Survivors are her sister, Anne Mount Della Rocca; two nieces and one nephew of New York.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Mount.
