PHS holds fall banquet

Pleasant Home held its annual fall football and volleyball banquet Monday night in the PHS auditorium.

Parents, school administration and program supporters were present for the annual banquet to recognize the student-athletes who excelled during their respective seasons.

In football, Pleasant Home finished its season with a 5-6 overall record, and fell to Sweet Water in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

Additionally, senior running back Frank Senn was selected to the Class 1A first All-State football team by the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association.

The Lady Eagles volleyball team ended the season at the Class 1A, Region A tournament in Kinston.

PHS fell to Holy Spirit in the opening match. The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 13-11 record.

PHS volleyball coach Jerry Davis recognized players in each grade on the team, presenting them with a certificate and thanked the clock keepers and book keepers.

The special awards went to team captain/libero/setter, Kaitlin Brookshire; back row hitter/libero, Jordan McGhee; front row hitter, Taylor Godwin; and Chelsey Walker, the most improved player.

During the football portion of the banquet, the PHS coaching staff recognized each player and awarded special awards to the players that excelled on the field.

The special awards and recipients were team captains, C.D. Giddens, Reggie Hamilton, John Caleb Sanders and Frank Senn; the J.J. Seise overcoming adversity award, Cody Lambert; the Rookie award, Austin Chesser; the Rock Hard award, Evan Yates; the Strong Man award, Reggie Hamilton; offensive lineman MVP, John Caleb Sanders; defensive lineman MVP, Jeffrey Slaughter; offensive player of the year, Cory Sims; defensive players of the year, Hunter Weaver and Dustin Taylor; most valuable player, Frank Senn.

Along with the special awards, the athletes who made the 2010 Andalusia Star-News All-County team were recognized as well.
