Husband stabbed

A domestic brouhaha that spanned numerous Opp locations, ended with the husband being stabbed in the neck, the wife’s car being rammed and both arrested Wednesday.

Opp Police Chief Nickey Carn-ley said officers were dispatched to Hwy. 52 East, in reference to a domestic disturbance and stabbing.

Carnley said that upon arrival Max Curtis Richardson, 53, was located near Hattaway Road and Hwy. 52.

“It was discovered that Richardson had been stabbed in the neck with a knife by his wife, Sonya Lawson Richardson, age 36,” he said.

Investigators reported that the assault took place at the Travel Lodge on the Florala Highway. at approximately 9:20 a.m.

“During the course of the investigation, it was determined after the original assault took place that Sonya Lawson Richardson left the scene,” Carnley said.

Carnley said through the investigation, officers discovered that Max Richardson attempted to ram Sonya Richardson’s vehicle while she was traveling on private property.

“The offense continued on Hwy. 52 East where Max Richardson used his vehicle in a reckless manner again in the attempt to stop Mrs. Richardson’s vehicle.”

Max Richardson was transported to Mizell Memorial Hospital and was later transported to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan.

Both of the Richardsons were arrested by Opp police officers on charges of domestic violence.

Investigators said that Max Richardson signed his own signature bond at the Opp Police Department and Sonya Richardson was transported to the Covington County Jail, where she was released on a $500 bond.
