Red Level beats Florala in OT

Red Level beat Florala 63-53 in over time tonight at FHS in regular season action.

The Wildcats led by one point at half time, and then RLS took a 41-35 lead at the end of the third period.

Florala tied the game 51-51 at the buzzer in the fourth on a tip in by John Bess.

Red Level won the tip in over time, Troy Nolen (who led Red Level with 18 points) hit a three-pointer, a jumper was made from the field and the Tigers made 7-of-8 from the free-throw line to get the win in extra time.

James Feagin contributed in Red Level’s win with 17 points.

Erik Vega led Florala with 15 points, and Lavoris Ball had 14 points.

In B-team action, Red Level won 43-20.

R. O’Neal led the Tigers with 18 points. For Florala, eighth grader Tamaris Jamison led the Wildcats with 16 points.

In varsity girls action, Florala beat Red Level 56-35.

Paige Irwin led the Lady Wildcats with 26 points, and Justina Clissold contributed with 22 points.

Kiaira Coleman led Red Level with 11 points.

Florala will play host to Georgiana on Thursday night, and Red Level travels to Straughn for action tomorrow night.

Andalusia boys 87, T.R. Miller boys 50

Andalusia’s Derrick King led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Quayshaun Denson scored 15 points, Jacard Townsend had 14 points and Corinthian Sims had 13 points.

For T.R. Miller, Marc Edge led the Tigers with 17 points.

The Bulldogs (25-2) led 37-29 at half time, and then outscored the Tigers 36-12 in the third period and 14-9 in the fourth for the win.

In varsity girls action, Andalusia won 49-40.

Andalusia will play host to Brantley tomorrow night.

Kinston boys 44, Straughn boys 37

Kinston’s Jacob Free led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Hunter Anderson had 12 points, and Zack Day had 11 points.

Straughn held a 35-31 lead early in the fourth period, but periodic turnovers by the Tigers led to key steals and lay ups by the Bulldogs.

With more than six minutes remaining, Kinston was 10-of-13.

Giavann Nurse led Straughn with nine points (all three-pointers). J.D. Driver had seven points. Austin Pickrel and Avery Driver scored six points each.

In B-team action, Straughn beat Kinston 34-29.

Brice Scott scored 12 points for Straughn, and Niguel Byrd scored 13 points.

D. Henderson had 10 points for Kinston.

In varsity girls action, Straughn beat Kinston 43-21.

Anjelica Bonham led Straughn with 10 points. Katy Messick had seven points, and Kimmie Jones contributed with eight points.

Straughn will play host to Red Level for its senior night tomorrow night.
