Law enforcement officials have located a Lockhart man whose truck was found in a Geneva County River Wednesday.

Covington County Chief Deputy David Anderson said officers located John Samuel Cope, 34, in a city in the Florida Panhandle.

“He is currently being held in a county jail waiting the signing of a wavier of extradition,” Anderson said.

A motorist reported a vehicle in the Pea River off of Columbus Holly Road near Samson on Wednesday to the Samson Police Department.

Cope was wanted for questioning in two ongoing cases in Covington County, Anderson said previously.

The case is still under investigation with further charges pending, Anderson said.
