An Evergreen man was charged with murder yesterday he drove his pickup truck into the back of a car stopped at a county work site.

Ten-year-old Dawson Kirksey died in the crash. His mother, Kimberly Water Kirksey, 32, and sister, Kortlann Kirksey, 7, were both transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Calvin Fluker Jr., 61, of Evergreen, was traveling in a 2008 Dodge Ram when he struck Mrs. Kirksey’s Pontiac Grand Prix, which was stopped on County Road 42, east of Evergreen.

Fluker allegedly assaulted the flagman after the crash and drove away in a county work truck. He was later arrested by Evergreen police.
