LIZZIE ELMORE

Lizzie Elmore, 96, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Feb. 14, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., today, Wed., Feb. 16, at Beulah Baptist Church in Opp, with her sons, the Rev. James Elmore and the Rev. Dewey Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive visitors at her residence at 417 East Fourth Street in Andalusia today until time to depart for the church.

Survivors include her sons, James Elmore of Andalusia, Dewey Elmore Sr. of Kinston and Noah Elmore of Andalusia; four daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Fred Lawson, Shirley and Edward Morgan and Vassie Weaver, all of Andalusia, and Janice and Ben Skinner of Samson; 43 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Franklin Elmore; a son, Walter Ray Elmore, and a daughter, Effie Mae.

JACOB ‘JAKE’ EUGENE MERRILL

Jacob, “Jake” Eugene Merrill, 85, of Andalusia, died Mon., Feb. 14, 2011, in a Tuscaloosa nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Fri., Feb. 18, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Karthaus, Dr. Harrell Cushing and the Rev. John Foster officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Clyde Merrill of Andalusia; his son and daughter-in-law, John Jacob and Rhonda Merrill of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; his daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Martha Susan and Dr. Robert David Griffith of Tuscaloosa and Fran and Dwight Bostick; eight grandchildren; a brother, James Warren Merrill of Andalusia; and sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Guy B. Wilder of Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Andalusia.

Corrine Worley, 88, formerly of Covington County, passed away Tues., Feb. 15, 2011.

RONALD ELMORE

Ronald Elmore, 74, of the Judson community, died Sat., Feb. 12, 2011, in a Florala nursing home.

Funeral services were held Mon., Feb. 14, from the Judson Baptist Church with the Rev. Hank Roberts and the Rev. Dennis Knowles officiating, and interment following in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (William Ray) Huckabaa of Red Level; a daughter-in-law, Sommer Elmore Pittman of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Bailey Elmore, Vicky Allen, Joseph Wayne Day, Kayla Leanne Day and Lindsey Starr; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ray (Judy) Elmore, Wayne (Margie) Elmore, Jacob (Martha) Elmore and Harold (Ferrolyn) Elmore, all of Andalusia; six sisters, Faye (Glen) Sightler, Barbara (Don) Bradley, Gloria (Eddie) Cannon, Glenda (Charles) Beasley, Charlotte (Gary) Smith and Elaine (Gordon) Bulger, all of Andalusia; a sister-in-law, Harriet Elmore Phelps of Andalusia; several nieces and nephews; and four special nieces and nephews, Ashley (Austin) Carter, Jason (Sherrie) Elmore, Danny Elmore and Sherry Baggett.

He was preceded n death by his son, Toby Elmore.

Pallbearers were David Elmore, Clay Elmore, Danny Elmore, Sammy Brown, Bo Baggett and Brian Whitehurst.
